Hyderabad HIPLEX 2023, India's third biggest expo on plastics is currently underway at HITEX, Hyderabad. The four-day event has showcased several sustainable products, solutions and technologies. The environment friendly products and the equipment to manufacture biodegradable items attracted the attention of a majority of the audience at the expo.
Hyderabad-based Vijayneha Polymers Pvt Ltd is actively engaged in significant work related to recycling and sustainability. It has established large recycling facilities and incorporated post-consumer recycled (PCR) and post-industrial waste materials (PWM) in its specialty film manufacturing process. Extensive development efforts have led to the creation and commercialisation of sustainable laminates.
The company has successfully developed metallised PE film, which helps to reduce plastic usage by eliminating one layer in the laminate. Currently, its R&D team is working diligently to establish barrier coated paper as a substitute for conventional laminates. Its commitment to recycling and sustainable practices aligns with the goal of contributing to a greener and more environmentally friendly future.
“The company plans a brownfield expansion at Rs 50 crore in FY 2024-25 and a green field project at a cost of Rs 200 crore in FY 2027-28. We believe in keeping up with the times. The industry is embracing sustainability, and we are actively providing solutions to meet this demand. Sustainability is crucial not just for the industry but also for the environment,” says Neha Gupta, MD, Vijayneha Polymers.
“We categorise sustainability into single-family structures for 100 per cent recyclability, down-gauging of plastic footprint through thinner outer packaging or replacing rigid, non-recyclable plastics with simpler recyclable packaging, and incorporating PCR or PIR contents in packaging, based on the product's needs,” she informed.
Boorugu Innovation & Trust is a city-based firm which supplies eco-friendly raw materials and solutions for the manufacturing of plastics, PVC, printing and coating products. “Our raw material is designed to mimic properties of natural elements.
